EY 1 (Mr Rafael) 

Today, we reviewed our theme, Toys. We shared our favorite toys and played a memory-matching game and Four Corners. For Language Focus, we sang the alphabet and worked on our A and B worksheets. After lunch, we played at the park and practiced a fire drill. Everyone did a great job! We finished the day by making and playing with cup-and-paper-ball kendamas. See you next week!

今日は、今週のテーマである「おもちゃ」について復習しました。子どもたちはお気に入りのおもちゃを紹介し、神経衰弱ゲームやFour Cornersを楽しみました。Language Focusでは、アルファベットの歌を歌い、AとBのワークシートに取り組みました。昼食後は公園で遊び、避難訓練も行いました。みんなとてもよく頑張りました！最後は、紙コップと紙のボールを使ってけん玉を作り、実際に遊びました。それでは、また来週！

EY 2 (Ms Guitar)

This week, we continued talking about toys and chose our favorite ones. We also read the book Not a Box to learn about prepositions. During Language Focus Time, we started learning about vowels and phonological awareness. We practiced recognizing which words have each vowel sound. After recess, we practiced our evacuation drill. During Fun Learning Time, we did a LEGO tower counting activity, where we matched each number to the correct number of LEGO bricks. For our craft activity, we used paper clay to build our favorite toys.

今週も「おもちゃ」について話し、お気に入りのおもちゃを選びました。また、前置詞を学ぶために『Not a Box』という絵本を読みました。

Language Focus Timeでは、母音と音韻認識について学び始めました。それぞれの母音の音が含まれる単語を見分ける練習をしました。休み時間の後には、避難訓練の練習も行いました。 Fun Learning Timeでは、LEGOのタワーを使った数のアクティビティに取り組み、数字と正しい数のLEGOブロックを組み合わせました。クラフト活動では、紙粘土を使ってお気に入りのおもちゃを作りました。

EY 3 (Ms Cindy)

Today, we started our day with some icebreakers and games to get to know each other better. Our theme for this week is “Toys,” so we read a classic story about a little teddy bear named “Corduroy.” We then practiced retelling the story using our English words. In Literacy, we studied words with “an” in them and practiced writing three-letter words. In the afternoon, we explored toys from around the world by playing with the famous toy from Denmark, LEGO! We also started a craft activity in Art, making teddy bears out of craft paper. Have a great weekend, everyone!

今日は、まずお互いのことをよりよく知るために、アイスブレイクやゲームを行いました。今週のテーマは「おもちゃ」なので、「コーデュロイ」という小さなテディベアのお話を読みました。その後、英語を使って物語を説明し直す練習をしました。Literacyでは、「an」を含む単語を学び、3文字の単語を書く練習をしました。午後は、世界のおもちゃについて学び、デンマークで生まれた有名なおもちゃ、LEGOで遊びました。Artでは、クラフトペーパーを使ってテディベアを作るクラフト活動も始めました。皆さん、よい週末をお過ごしください！

PY4 (Sub teacher - Ms Amanda)

We started by discussing the natural disasters that happened around the world last week during our Class Meeting. Then, we had library time, followed by Language Focus, where we explored what artists draw when they draw animals. Before lunch, we had a challenge to read the paragraph aloud, one by one. In the afternoon, we had our evacuation drill, and everyone did a really good job. Finally, we had our STEM project combined with art. We used magnets and pipe cleaners to make our own toys.

まず、クラスミーティングで、先週世界各地で起きた自然災害について話し合いました。その後、図書館の時間を過ごし、続いてLanguage Focusでは、アーティストが動物を描くときにどのような表現をしているのかについて学びました。昼食前には、文章を一人ずつ声に出して読むチャレンジにも取り組みました。午後は避難訓練を行い、みんなとてもよくできました。最後に、Artと組み合わせたSTEMプロジェクトに取り組みました。磁石とモールを使って、自分たちのおもちゃを作りました。

PY5 (Mr Simon)

Today, we played AGO to practice our English Q&A skills, as we usually do first thing in the morning. After snacks, we completed a couple of pages from the workbook. Then, after lunch, we went to the gym to have fun and burn off some extra energy, followed by cool-down time in the classroom. We also had a fire and earthquake drill, which everyone handled quite well.

今日は、いつものように朝一番にAGOで遊び、英語でのQ&Aスキルを練習しました。スナックタイムの後は、ワークブックを数ページ進めました。昼食後は、体育館へ行き、楽しく体を動かして元気いっぱい遊びました。その後、教室でクールダウンの時間を過ごしました。また、火災・地震避難訓練も行い、みんなとても落ち着いて上手に取り組むことができました。

PY6 (Mr Julian)

We continued with the theme of “Toys” and talked about why some toys remain timeless and popular decades after their release, and how some have been replaced by modern technology and mass production. We compared the students’ favorite toys from when they were younger with their favorite toys now.In Language Focus class, we learned about Mt. Rushmore, a monument featuring the faces of four U.S. presidents carved into granite on a mountainside in the American Midwest.

引き続き「おもちゃ」をテーマに学び、発売から何十年も経った今でも人気があり、時代を超えて愛されているおもちゃがあるのはなぜかについて話し合いました。また、現代のテクノロジーや大量生産によって、以前のおもちゃの一部が置き換えられていることについても考えました。子どもたちが小さい頃に好きだったおもちゃと、現在好きなおもちゃを比較しました。Language Focusでは、ラシュモア山について学びました。ラシュモア山は、アメリカ中西部の山の花崗岩に、4人のアメリカ大統領の顔が彫られている記念碑です。

EY 1 (Mr Rafael) 

It was great to see everyone, including our new friends for the fall term! Everyone had a lot of fun today. During Circle Time, the children enjoyed singing and dancing. Since our theme is toys, they shared their favorite toys by saying, "I like [toy]." We also sang the ABCs and reviewed the alphabet. After lunch, we played on the school grounds and made a craft using forks, inspired by the movie Toy Story. See you all next week!

秋学期が始まり、新しいお友達も含めてみんなに会えて嬉しかったです！今日はみんなで楽しく過ごしました。サークルタイムでは、歌ったり踊ったりして楽しみました。今学期のテーマが「Toys（おもちゃ）」なので、「I like ～.」という表現を使って、お気に入りのおもちゃを紹介しました。また、ABCの歌を歌いながらアルファベットの復習もしました。昼食後は園庭で遊び、映画『トイ・ストーリー』に登場するキャラクターをイメージして、フォークを使ったクラフト制作をしました。また来週会いましょう！

EY 2 (Ms Guitar)

Since today was the first day of the fall term, we introduced ourselves to our friends and played some icebreaker games to get to know each other better. In this term, we will mainly be talking about happiness, so we started by learning about toys. We learned some new vocabulary related to toys and observed which toys we have in the classroom. We also shared which toy we like the most and practiced using the sentence pattern, "I like..." During Language Focus, we reviewed all 26 phonics sounds and played a phonics fishing game to practice sound recognition. For Fun Learning Time, we went to the library and enjoyed reading books. For our craft activity, we watched some Toy Story videos and made Forky from the movie.

今日は秋学期の初日だったので、自己紹介をしたり、アイスブレイクゲームをしたりして、お友達のことを知る時間を楽しみました。今学期は「Happiness（幸せ）」を大きなテーマとして学んでいくため、まずは「Toys（おもちゃ）」について学習しました。おもちゃに関する新しい単語を学び、教室にあるおもちゃを観察しました。また、一番好きなおもちゃについて紹介し、「I like...」の文型を使う練習もしました。

Language Focusでは、26個すべてのフォニックスの音を復習し、音を聞き分ける練習としてフォニックス・フィッシングゲームをしました。Fun Learning Timeでは図書館へ行き、それぞれ好きな本を読んで楽しみました。クラフト活動では『トイ・ストーリー』の動画を見て、映画に登場するフォーキーを作りました。

EY 3 (Ms Cindy)

We were happy to welcome everyone to EY3 for the fall term! We started our day by getting to know each other with some icebreakers and English games. We then read a story by Alexandra Penfold and Suzanne Kaufman titled All Are Welcome. At the end of the morning, we watched a PowerPoint presentation on what we will be doing this term. In the afternoon, we explored toys from around the world and made passports to document our toy exploration! We also went outside for playtime and danced to "Danny Go!" It was a fun day, and it was wonderful to welcome everybody to Saturday School this term.

秋学期、EY3のみんなを迎えることができて嬉しかったです！一日の始まりには、アイスブレイクや英語ゲームを通して、お互いのことを知る時間を楽しみました。その後、Alexandra PenfoldさんとSuzanne Kaufmanさんによる絵本『All Are Welcome』を読みました。 午前の最後には、今学期に行う活動についてのPowerPointを見ました。午後は世界のおもちゃについて学び、おもちゃ探検の記録を残すためのパスポートを作りました！外遊びも楽しみ、「Danny Go!」に合わせてダンスもしました。 楽しい一日となり、今学期もみんなをSaturday Schoolに迎えることができて嬉しく思います。

PY4 (Ms Lenna)

We started by introducing ourselves and began our Language Focus with a new book about art. We explored our interests in art and drawing, created a quick drawing, wrote a sentence about it, and shared our artwork with the class. After recess, we explored this term’s theme by watching a video about toys from around the world and discussing happiness. We also shared the foods that make us happy. After lunch and outdoor recess, we continued exploring art through Pablo Picasso’s The Crying Woman and Vincent van Gogh’s Sunflowers. We discussed how artists use colors, shapes, and lines to express different emotions.

自己紹介からスタートし、Language Focusではアートについての新しい本を使って学習しました。自分が好きなアートや絵について考え、簡単な絵を描いて、それについての文章を書き、クラスのみんなに作品を紹介しました。休み時間の後は、世界のおもちゃについての動画を見ながら、今学期のテーマである「Happiness（幸せ）」について考えました。また、自分たちを幸せな気持ちにしてくれる食べ物についても紹介しました。昼食と外遊びの後は、Pablo Picassoの『The Crying Woman（泣く女）』やVincent van Goghの『Sunflowers（ひまわり）』を通して、さらにアートについて学びました。アーティストが色や形、線を使ってさまざまな感情を表現する方法について話し合いました。

PY5 (Mr Simon)

Today we started the day with introductions. Then we warmed up by playing AGO, an English card game, which the kids seemed to enjoy. We did a couple of pages of Unit 4 of the workbook, mostly listening and pronunciation practice. "Threw" was a tough word for most of them to pronounce. After lunch, the new theme was introduced: Happiness. They answered the question, "What makes you happy?" and illustrated their answers. We ended the day by getting some exercise in the gym.

今日は自己紹介から一日をスタートしました。その後、英語のカードゲーム「AGO」でウォーミングアップをし、子どもたちは楽しんでいました。

ワークブックのUnit 4を数ページ進め、主にリスニングと発音の練習をしました。特に 「threw」 は、多くのお友達にとって発音するのが難しい単語でした。昼食後は、新しいテーマ「Happiness（幸せ）」について学びました。「What makes you happy?（何があなたを幸せな気持ちにしますか？）」という質問に答え、自分の答えを絵にしました。最後は体育館で体を動かして、一日を終えました。

PY6 (Mr Julian)

Welcome back, everyone! Today in the PY6 class, we started the new theme, "Happiness," for the fall term. We compared toys that were popular in the past with toys of today. In the Language Focus class, we learned how butterflies have powder on their wings, which they use for camouflage and for wing balance when flying.

みなさん、おかえりなさい！ PY6では、秋学期の新しいテーマ「Happiness（幸せ）」について学習をスタートしました。昔人気だったおもちゃと、現在のおもちゃを比べました。Language Focusでは、蝶の羽についている粉のようなものについて学びました。この粉は、蝶が身を隠すためのカモフラージュや、飛ぶときに羽のバランスを保つために役立っていることを知りました。
